A Series

The highly efficient design of the Pioneer A Series speakers intentionally matches the subwoofer and full-range loudspeakers to provide seamless and smooth sound characteristics, with dynamic, high-impact bass that lets you hear and feel the music. Pioneer’s OPEN & SMOOTH sound concept ensures a seamless transition between the midrange and tweeter drivers, delivering a uniform off-axis frequency response optimized for automotive applications, where one or more speakers are often aimed away from the listeners’ ears. The A Series lineup enhances audio details and improves acoustic performance.

Loud & Clear

These speakers are designed with a dual-port bass-reflex system to provide not only more bass but also a cleaner bass output than typical speakers of the same size. They allow you to enjoy coherent sound without missing any details and without exaggerated response, offering improved precision and more detail across the entire audio bandwidth. Their efficiency also enables you to enjoy exceptional sound from low-power sources, while their ability to handle high-power head units or small amplifiers ensures versatility.

Open & smooth

Pioneer’s OPEN & SMOOTH sound concept ensures a seamless and smooth transition between the midrange and tweeter drivers, delivering a uniform off-axis frequency response. This design is optimized for automotive applications where one or more speakers are often aimed away from the listeners’ ears.

Carbon and Mica reinforced IMPP™ cone

An extremely rigid yet lightweight cone is essential to avoid cone failure and distortion under high power. Pioneer’s IMPP™ composite cones meet this need perfectly. CAE (Computer-Aided Engineering) was applied to create a curvilinear cone with varying thicknesses during the injection process, maintaining a balance between lightness (responsiveness) and rigidity (precise audio and tight bass). To further improve this rigidity-to-weight ratio, Pioneer uses an advanced process that integrates different materials, such as carbon and mica, which resonate at different frequencies, creating a perfectly balanced cone across the entire bandwidth.

Polyetherimide (PEI) midrange with (PET) hard dome tweeters

PEI and PET materials can withstand high temperatures while maintaining stable electrical and mechanical properties over a wide frequency range. Their strength-to-weight ratio makes them ideal for high-frequency vibrations of the dome and thermal management of the voice coil. We also carefully designed these components with a front diffuser to help maintain the perfect audio balance during the transition from on-axis to off-axis listening. This allows for a more balanced sound source between the different audio points in the car.

Keep it simple and clean

Avoid messy installations and keep your speaker wiring as clean as possible. These speakers use an in-line crossover design and/or an integrated crossover already installed on the speaker basket. This eliminates the need for a bulky external box typically found with passive crossovers, saving you from having to find extra space for it. Additionally, it removes the need for extra wires going in and out of your door to accommodate a woofer in the door with a matching tweeter on your dash.

CarSoundfit App

Pioneer’s Car Sound Fit app is a car sound simulator that lets you experience what your car could sound like using your own smartphone. You’ll be able to hear the difference between stock speakers and Pioneer’s various audio options, and see how the quality of Pioneer speakers can enhance your in-car experience. Questions and Answers

Q1: What is the continuous (RMS) power rating of the TS-A6991F?
A1: Approximately 120 W RMS.
Q2: What is the peak power handling of this speaker pair?
A2: Up to about 700 W peak.
Q3: What size are these speakers and what is their impedance?
A3: They are sized at 6″×9″ and have a nominal impedance of 4 Ω.
Q4: What materials and design features are used for sound quality improvements?
A4: The woofer uses a carbon & mica-reinforced IMPP™ cone (for rigidity and reduced distortion), the design includes multiple drivers (mid-range, tweeter, super-tweeter) for wide coverage, and the “Open & Smooth™” concept is applied for off-axis listening.
Q5: Will these speakers work well with a factory head unit or do I need an amplifier?

A5: Yes — they can work with many factory head units due to their 4 Ω impedance and 92 dB sensitivity. However, to fully exploit their potential (especially for bass impact and clarity at higher volumes), pairing them with a quality external amplifier is recommended.
