About The Product

The Pioneer P.R.O. (Pioneer Reference for Open Show) series of speakers is designed specifically for those looking to produce serious sound pressure levels. Inspired by Pioneer’s history of record-breaking SPL competition, the new P.R.O. Series line of speakers is constructed with the street enthusiast in mind. Emphasizing efficiency and power handling, the P.R.O. series lineup consists of bullet tweeters, mid-bass drivers, and a subwoofer that can be mixed and matched to deliver impressive output without requiring a significant investment.

What is Pioneer P.R.O.

In the early 2000s, an SPL competition called “dB drag racing” became popular in the U.S. By 2003, there were approximately 10,000 competitors, with winners achieving around 150dB. Pioneer broke the world record in 2004 by reaching 173.0dB and renewed this title the following year with an impressive 180.5dB!

Around 2005, under the sponsorship of the IASCA (International Auto Sound Challenge Association), an emerging SPL competition called “OPEN SHOW” was introduced with great success. The acronym for Pioneer P.R.O. (Pioneer Reference for Open Show) for our dedicated products comes from this designation.

Now, it’s a trend that can also be enjoyed casually outdoors, whether partying or tailgating at your favorite sports event.

Large and Heavy

Specifically crafted for open show car audio systems, these speakers exemplify phenomenal maximum power and incredible efficiency, allowing not only high sound pressure (SPL) but also hours of musical enjoyment. The basket and the imposing motor structure of this speaker, which uses a heavy magnet, offer all the required power handling and heat dissipation to move the main cone and its large aluminum voice coil.

Paper Beats Rock

The optimally blended pulp cone woofer guarantees precise and vibrant sound, while the motor construction, voice coil, and powerful magnet—drawing inspiration from Pioneer’s history in SPL competitions—promise high efficiency and excellent thermal management, even at high volumes.

Titanium and Aluminum

A titanium diaphragm is the centerpiece of the horn-loaded tweeter unit, which uses a high-quality die-cast aluminum basket and center bullet to maintain better accuracy under high power and improve heat dissipation.

Questions and Answers

Q1: What is the continuous (RMS) power rating of the TS‑6900PRO?
A1: It is rated at 100 W RMS.
Q2: What is the peak power handling?
A2: Up to 600 W peak power.
Q3: What size are these speakers and what is their impedance?
A3: They are 6″×9″ in size and have a nominal impedance of 4 ohms.
Q4: What sensitivity rating do they have and why is it important?
A4: The sensitivity is approximately 92 dB (1 W/1 m). Higher sensitivity means the speaker can generate more volume from less input power.
Q5: Will these speakers work with a factory head unit alone or do I need an amplifier?

A5: Yes, they can work with a good factory head unit thanks to their high sensitivity, but to fully exploit their high power handling, clarity, and head‑room (especially for bass or loud volume) an external amplifier is strongly recommended.
