Description

Pioneer TS‑MR2040

The Pioneer TS‑MR2040 is an 8″ (≈ 20 cm) 2‑way marine‑use coaxial speaker pair designed for use in boats, wake‑towers, or outdoor applications where durability against water, sun, and humidity is required. It is rated for 40 W RMS (continuous) nominal power and up to 200 W peak power. Its sensitivity is about 92 dB (1 W/1 m), impedance is 4 ohms, and its frequency response spans approximately 25 Hz to 30 kHz. The woofer uses a water‑resistant IMPP™ (Injection Moulded Polypropylene) composite cone, and the tweeter is a ¾″ poly‑imide reflex horn‑type design — optimized for harsh conditions.  The cut‑out diameter is approximately 7‑¼″ (~185 mm) and the mounting depth is ~3″ (~75 mm).

About The Product

Nautica Series 8” Marine-Use 2-way Speaker with 200 W Maximum PowerLightweight polyimide (PI) tweeter diaphragm with uniquely shaped wave guide provides natural with clear vocals Marine wide dispersion.

Poly-Imide Reflex Horn Tweeter

The Reflex Horn design is a Pioneer innovation that delivers stunning high frequencies while at the same time providing protection for the tweeter from moisture.

Acrylonitrile-Elastomer Styrene (AES) Glass Fiber Reinforced Basket/Magnet Cover

The AES cover protects the magnetic circuit that can affect the performance of the speaker. The speakers also sport the pure white AES grilles to resist fading and yellowing caused by direct sunlight and heat.

Elastomer Surround

Each speaker utilizes an elastomer surround that resists color fading or running, which extends the longevity of the product.

Gold Tinsel Wire

Gold tinsel wire and gold plated wire terminals are used for better current transfer.

Water-resistant IMPP Composite Cone

Pioneer’s popular injection molded polypropylene (IMPP) cones produce outstanding mid-bass response and resist the effects of salt water, humidity, and extreme heat.

Questions and Answers

Q1: What is the nominal (RMS) power rating of the TS‑MR2040?
A1: It is rated at 40 W RMS nominal input.
Q2: What is the peak power handling?
A2: It supports up to 200 W peak power.
Q3: What size are these speakers and what is the impedance?
A3: They are 8″ (≈ 20 cm) speakers with a nominal impedance of 4 Ω.
Q4: What are the key materials and durability features?
A4: The woofer uses an IMPP™ composite cone, the tweeter is a ¾″ poly‑imide reflex horn, the surround is elastomer, basket and hardware are designed for marine use (resistant to salt, UV and moisture).
Q5: Will these fit in typical car speaker locations?

A5: Possibly—but you’ll need to check depth (≈3″), cut‑out size (≈7‑¼″), and ensure the mounting environment is suitable. While marine‑rated (for salt/UV/humidity), they can be used in cars if size, depth and mounting permit.
