What is Pioneer P.R.O.
In the early 2000s, the SPL competition “dB drag racing” gained popularity in the U.S., with winners reaching around 150 dB by 2003. Pioneer broke the world record in 2004 with 173.0 dB and surpassed it in 2005 with 180.5 dB. Under the sponsorship of the IASCA (International Auto Sound Challenge Association), the “OPEN SHOW” SPL competition emerged. The acronym P.R.O. (Pioneer Reference for Open Show) originates from this competition, and the series is designed for both competitive and casual outdoor use, such as tailgating or parties.
