Description

Sundown Audio SALT-200.4

SALT-200.4 is a 4-channel Class-D digital car audio amplifier from the SALT series by Sundown Audio. It’s built for full-range or multi-speaker + subwoofer systems, optimized to run on realistic 12 V vehicle electrical systems. The amp features robust build quality (heavy-duty heatsink, epoxy PCB), full-range output, variable crossover filters (high-pass, low-pass, subsonic), and multi-way protection circuitry (thermal, voltage, speaker-short, DC-offset)  making it versatile for both speakers and subs while maintaining reliability under demanding conditions.

Questions and Answers

Q1: What power output does SALT-200.4 deliver?
A1: It delivers 200 W × 4 RMS at 4 Ω, 325 W × 4 RMS at 2 Ω, and when bridged: 700 W × 2 at 4 Ω.
Q2: What frequency response and filters does the amplifier support?
A2: Frequency response is 10 Hz – 25 kHz. It supports variable 12 dB/octave high-pass, low-pass, and subsonic filters (HPF/LPF: 50–500 Hz; Subsonic: 10–500 Hz), with crossover multiplier options (X1 / X10) for flexible tuning.
Q3: Is the amp stable at low impedance / suitable for various loads?
A3: Yes  it is stable at 2 Ω per channel in stereo mode, and 4 Ω when bridged.
Q4: What protections and build features does it have?
A4: It includes multi-way protection circuitry  thermal, voltage, speaker-short, DC-offset. It also features a heavy-duty heatsink, epoxy-PCB, and optional wired remote control for monitoring voltage, temperature, and clipping.
Q5: What are the electrical requirements and recommended fuse?
A5: Operating voltage: DC 9 V – 15.5 V (so works well on standard 12 V automotive systems). Recommended fuse rating: 120 A. Input sensitivity: 6 V – 0.2 V.
