#8 x 1/2″ Phillips Flat Wood Screws 18-8 stainless steel screws have good chemical resistance and are a good choice for ACQ-treated (arsenic-free) lumber. All are beveled under the head for use in countersunk holes. They press threads into material for a tight, secure hold. To prevent splitting, drill a pilot hole slightly smaller than the screw.
