About The Product
TS-Z10LS4 Z-Series 10″ Subwoofer
The Z-Series is designed for high fidelity, high output, and ease of installation. The TS-Z10LS4 10″ subwoofer handles up to 400 W RMS. Its shallow basket design allows installation in places where an ordinary subwoofer will not fit. The oversized dual-layer cone of Twaron aramid fiber and cellulose fiber, supported by a tough butyl rubber surround, delivers accurate, hard-hitting bass notes even at high volume. The lightweight die-cast aluminum basket provides an incredibly stable housing without any coloration. Its 4-Ω voice coil makes it a great match for most amplifiers.
Hear More
The Z-Series is based on highly advanced technology developed by Pioneer, utilizing carefully selected materials and parts, and benefiting from decades of automotive loudspeaker design theory and testing expertise. Following Pioneer’s OPEN & SMOOTH™ sound concept, the Z-Series automotive loudspeakers feature smooth off-axis frequency response, superior directivity, and an extended frequency range. They are engineered to produce dynamic, accurate sound quality for your car, delivering a purity of sound that achieves unprecedented audio artistry.
Shallow Compact Design
Subwoofers require a strong basket to hold the cone, suspension, and motor structure in perfect alignment, even during high excursions at low frequencies. Traditional subwoofers need large enclosures, which can be challenging to install seamlessly. The Z-Series subwoofer features a shallow 3.2″ basket for installation flexibility, an oversized cone (15% larger than a conventional 10″ subwoofer), and a motor structure with a powerful magnet. These elements combine to produce fast, detailed, and extended bass with tremendous impact and clarity.
As a final touch, Pioneer designed the subwoofer with a low Q value to achieve powerful and deep bass typically associated with larger subwoofers and enclosures, without sacrificing cabin space. These subwoofers are shallow and made for small enclosures.
Twaron® Aramid Fiber + Cellulose Fiber
Twaron® is a synthetic aramid fiber that is very strong, heat-resistant, and rigid when woven into cloth. Cellulose fibers are naturally self-damping and reduce unwanted resonance. This subwoofer’s dual-layer cone, constructed with both a Twaron® layer and a cellulose layer, combines the strengths of both materials. The result is fast response and clear bass with low coloration and distortion.
Butyl Rubber Suspension
Made from a specially blended, highly durable, and moisture-resistant compound, the butyl rubber keeps the cone moving in a precise linear direction. It provides greater consistency across excursions and reduces unwanted vibration from the cone to the basket during signal changes and stops. This results in less distortion and superior bass frequency response.
High-Quality Dual-Spider Design
Pioneer’s poly-cotton dual-spider design effectively supports the voice coil by damping cone vibrations and improving the linearity of sound reproduction. The softer part ensures smooth movement and clear sound under high power, while the firmer part controls excessive vibrations and prevents unwanted movements that cause distortion.
The design of a slim subwoofer requires a smaller distance between the front and rear suspensions (spiders), reducing their effectiveness in maintaining linearity during low-frequency excursions. To counter this, Pioneer developed a dual rear suspension design, increasing precision without increasing mechanical resistance. This provides excellent control during long excursions while maintaining a small footprint in your car.
Deep Bass
To achieve deep and tight bass, a rigid and lightweight cone is essential. This subwoofer uses a strontium magnet paired with a large copper voice coil and a glass-imide voice-coil former for better bass control under high excursions, which also improves heat dissipation.
