Description

Pioneer TS‑MR1640

The Pioneer TS‑MR1640 is a 6.5‑inch (≈16 cm) 2‑way marine‑use coaxial speaker pair designed for boat, yacht or outdoor applications where durability and weather‑resistance matter. It is rated for 30 W nominal (RMS) and 160 W maximum (peak) power handling. The woofer uses a water‑resistant IMPP™ (Injection Moulded Polypropylene) composite cone and the tweeter is a PEI (Polyetherimide) dome type, delivering a frequency response of approximately 30 Hz to 30 kHz, sensitivity of 91 dB, and a nominal impedance of 4 ohms.  The build includes UV‑, salt‑water and corrosion‑resistant materials suitable for harsh marine conditions

About The Product

Nautica Series 6-1/2” Marine-Use 2-way Speaker with 160 W Max. Power

Lightweight polymide (PI) tweeter diaphragm with uniquely shaped wave guide provides natural with clear vocals Marine wide dispersion.

Poly-Imide Reflex Horn Tweeter

The Reflex Horn design is a Pioneer innovation that delivers stunning high frequencies while at the same time providing protection for the tweeter from moisture.

Acrylonitrile-Elastomer Styrene (AES) Glass Fiber Reinforced Basket/Magnet Cover

The AES cover protects the magnetic circuit that can affect the performance of the speaker. The speakers also sport the pure white AES grilles to resist fading and yellowing caused by direct sunlight and heat.

Elastomer Surround

Each speaker utilizes an elastomer surround that resists color fading or running, which extends the longevity of the product.

Gold Tinsel Wire

Gold tinsel wire and gold plated wire terminals are used for better current transfer.

Water-resistant IMPP Composite Cone

Pioneer’s popular injection molded polypropylene (IMPP) cones produce outstanding mid-bass response and resist the effects of salt water, humidity and extreme heat.

Questions and Answers

Q1: What is the nominal (RMS) power rating of the TS‑MR1640?
A1: It is rated at 30 W RMS (nominal input).
Q2: What is the maximum peak power handling?
A2: It handles up to 160 W peak power.
Q3: Can these speakers be used outside of marine applications, for example in a car in Pakistan?

A3: Yes — though they are marine‑rated for durability, their 4 ohm impedance and 91 dB sensitivity make them compatible with many head units. Just ensure the size (6.5″) and mounting depth fit your vehicle.

Q4: What is the frequency response of these speakers?
A4: The range is approximately 30 Hz to 30 kHz, offering good bass extension and high‑frequency coverage.
Q5: What makes these speakers “marine‑rated”?
A5: They include water‑ and UV‑resistant cone materials, elastomer surrounds resistant to discoloration/fading, corrosion‑resistant hardware, and white grilles that resist yellowing — all designed for exposure to sun, salt and moisture.
