About The Product

Nautica Series 6-1/2″ Marine-Use Dual-Cone Speaker

The Nautica Series 6-1/2″ speaker delivers 100 W maximum power and features a lightweight polyimide (PI) tweeter diaphragm with a uniquely shaped wave guide for natural, clear vocals and wide dispersion.

¾ Inch Poly-Imide Reflex Horn Tweeter

The Reflex Horn design, a Pioneer innovation, provides stunning high frequencies while protecting the tweeter from moisture.

Acrylonitrile-Elastomer Styrene (AES) Glass Fiber Reinforced Basket/Magnet Cover

The AES cover protects the magnetic circuit, ensuring consistent speaker performance. The pure white AES grilles resist fading and yellowing from direct sunlight and heat.

Elastomer Surround

Each speaker uses an elastomer surround that resists color fading and running, extending the product’s longevity.

Gold Tinsel Wire

Gold tinsel wire and gold-plated wire terminals are used for improved current transfer and enhanced audio performance.

Water-Resistant IMPP Composite Cone

The injection-molded polypropylene (IMPP) cone provides outstanding mid-bass response while resisting the effects of salt water, humidity, and extreme heat, ensuring reliable performance in marine environments.

Questions and Answers

Q1: What is the power handling of the TS‑MR1600?
A1: It has a nominal (RMS) rating of about 25 W and a maximum (peak) power rating of 100 W.
Q2: What is the size and impedance of this speaker?
A2: The size is 6.5″ (≈16 cm) and the impedance is 4 ohms.
Q3: What environment is this speaker designed for?
A3: It’s designed for marine applications — outdoor use, exposure to salt water, UV, humidity and heat. The materials (IMPP cone, elastomer surround, gold terminals) reflect that durability.
Q4: What is the sensitivity of the TS‑MR1600 and what does that mean?
A4: Sensitivity is 90 dB (1 W/1 m). That means it is reasonably efficient: it will produce a decent volume level with modest input power compared to lower sensitivity speakers.
Q5: Can I use this speaker in a regular car instead of marine use?

A5: Yes, you can. Although it’s designed for marine use, its size, impedance and sensitivity make it compatible with automotive systems as well. The added benefit is it’ll be more resistant to moisture, heat and corrosion than typical car‑speakers.
