Pioneer TS‑D68F

The Pioneer TS‑D68F is a 6″ × 8″ 2‑way coaxial speaker pair from Pioneer’s D‑Series, built to deliver higher‑quality sound than factory speakers with good clarity and bass extension. It uses an injection‑moulded polypropylene (IMPP™) woofer cone reinforced with aramid fibres for rigidity and improved bass response. According to official specs, it handles around 80 W RMS (continuous) power and up to 240 W peak power.  It has a sensitivity of approx. 87 dB (1W/1m) and is rated with a frequency response of about 34 Hz to 42 kHz. The impedance is 4 ohms, making it compatible with most car head units or modest amplifiers. The mounting depth is approximately 2 9/16″ (≈ 65 mm).

Pioneer’s OPEN & SMOOTH sound concept ensures a seamless and smooth transition between the midrange and tweeter drivers, delivering a uniform off-axis frequency response. This design is optimized for automotive applications where one or more speakers are often aimed away from the listeners’ ears.

Aramid Fiber Interlaced IMPP™

Polypropylene (PP) is a tough thermoplastic resin that is an ideal material for a speaker cone with low mass and high damping. PP cones offer good sensitivity and low distortion. However, basic raw polypropylene cones lack the rigidity and strength required for high output and extreme low bass. To resolve this, Pioneer engineers, using advanced Computer Aided Manufacturing, developed a process to blend aramid fibers into the polypropylene resin during the injection molding process. The resulting aramid fiber interlaced IMPP™ cone is ultra-thin and low mass with high rigidity and superior strength, producing natural, detailed sound with deep and powerful bass.

Tweeter – Soft Dome

Contoured from lightweight, resin-impregnated fibers of coated polyester fabric, the D tweeter delivers extended high-frequency performance. The diaphragm is highly resistant to the harsh environmental conditions of the automotive interior (temperature, humidity, vibration, etc.), while maintaining its uniform hemispherical shape to reduce dome breakup caused by excessive vibration at ultrasonic frequencies. The result is extremely low distortion levels and a smooth, natural sound.

Keep It Simple and Clean

Avoid messy installations and keep your speaker wiring as clean as possible. These speakers use an in-line crossover design and/or an integrated crossover already installed on the speaker basket. This eliminates the need for a bulky external box typically found with passive crossovers, saving you from having to find extra space for it. Additionally, it removes the need for extra wires going in and out of your door to accommodate a woofer in the door with a matching tweeter on your dash.
