Description

Pioneer TS‑A1681F

The Pioneer TS‑A1681F is a 6.5‑inch (≈16.5 cm) 4‑way coaxial speaker pair from the A‑Series, designed to deliver full‑range sound  from deep bass to crisp highs — in a compact vehicle speaker size. With a peak power handling of 350 W and a nominal (RMS) rating of 80 W, it uses a carbon‑and‑mica‑reinforced IMPP™ woofer cone for enhanced rigidity and clarity, accompanied by a 42 mm midrange cone and dual 11 mm tweeters for broad frequency coverage. The speaker offers a frequency response from approximately 35 Hz to 29 kHz, and a sensitivity around 91 dB, making it suitable for high‑quality upgrades without needing extreme amplification.

About The Product

TS-A1670F 6-1/2” 4-Way Coaxial Speaker

The TS-A1670F 6-1/2” 4-way coaxial speakers deliver 350 W max power (80 W nominal) and feature a carbon and mica-reinforced IMPP™ cone, 1-5/8″ (41 mm) PEI midrange, and dual 11 mm PET hard dome tweeters (including a super tweeter). These A Series speakers provide smooth, detailed, and high-impact sound with efficient power handling.

A Series

The A Series speakers are engineered for efficiency and seamless integration between subwoofers and full-range speakers. Pioneer’s OPEN & SMOOTH sound concept ensures a uniform off-axis frequency response and smooth transition between midrange and tweeter drivers. The result is balanced, detailed audio performance throughout the vehicle.

Loud & Clear

These speakers offer high efficiency and precision. They reproduce all details of your music without exaggeration and maintain clarity even at low power. High power handling allows connection to external amplifiers, enhancing dynamic range and impact.

Carbon and Mica Reinforced IMPP™ Cone

The lightweight yet rigid IMPP™ cone prevents distortion under high power. CAE (Computer-Aided Engineering) creates a curvilinear cone with varying thickness to optimize responsiveness and precision. Carbon and mica integration ensures balanced resonance across the entire frequency range.

Polyetherimide (PEI) Midrange with PET Hard Dome Tweeters

PEI and PET materials maintain thermal stability and mechanical consistency across wide frequency ranges. A front diffuser balances audio during transitions from on-axis to off-axis listening, ensuring uniform sound throughout the vehicle.

Pioneer Exclusive Multi-Fit Adapters

Included multi-fit installation adapters allow flexible fitting across multiple vehicles. Tabs can be removed or modified to match original speaker mounting points, improving installation quality and acoustic performance.

Keep it Simple and Clean

In-line or integrated crossovers reduce wiring complexity and eliminate the need for bulky external boxes, making installation cleaner and simpler.

CarSoundFit App

The CarSoundFit app simulates your car’s audio experience. It lets you compare stock speakers with Pioneer options, demonstrating improvements in clarity, detail, and overall in-car sound performance.

Questions and Answers

Q1: What is the nominal (RMS) power rating of the TS‑A1681F?
A1: It is rated at 80 W RMS.
Q2: What is the peak power handling of this speaker pair?
A2: The speakers support up to 350 W peak power.
Q3: What size is the TS‑A1681F and what is its design configuration?
A3: It is a 6.5‑inch sized speaker in a 4‑way coaxial configuration (woofer + midrange + tweeter + super‑tweeter) for full‑range sound.
Q4: What kind of materials are used and what’s the benefit?
A4: The woofer uses a carbon‑and‑mica‑reinforced IMPP™ cone for strength and reduced distortion, and the midrange and tweeters use PEI domes to deliver clarity across mids and highs. This results in clearer, more accurate sound compared to basic stock speakers.
Q5: Will these speakers work well with my factory head unit, or do I need an amplifier?
A5: Yes, they have a sensitivity of around ~91 dB and 4‑ohm impedance, which means they can perform decently with many factory head units. However, if you want to push volume or clarity further (especially bass response), using an external amplifier will yield better results.
