About The Product
This SA-10/12 v.3 series is the next generation upgrade to the v.2 series. We stuck with the 2.75” coil diameter and added another 5mm of length for additional linear x-max (22mm now). We are able to perfectly balance the mass, motor force, and suspension stiffness for the intended power level. Compared to the v.2 the v.3 features taller cones and wider spiders to enhanced linearity and coil stability to the next level. We also utilized full 3D FEA to further optimize the spider packs for this generation.
The motor also features a large magnet shorting ring (faraday ring) & pole cap faraday ring to reduce distortion and deliver smoother response across the entire acoustic spectrum. With the v.3 upgrade we integrated a completely “locked-in” faraday ring that is physically held in place by the T-Yoke. The motor & coil setup is mated to an extremely robust multi-layer spider with fully tied-on & doubled-up “XL” tinsel leads. A competition-grade paper cone, strong foam surround, and custom-tooled aluminum frame (same frame as the bigger brother U v.2 series) are used to complete this masterpiece. On top of the ~22mm of one-way linear excursion we have an x-mech limit of 41mm one-way before coil bottom making it nearly “bottomless.” The new motor was designed as a “little brother” to the U v.2 series so you will also note the updated venting system with a solid pole piece from the back and channeled pole on the inside.
